Poorly-packaged Shipment

Question from one of our subscribers:

I’m just looking for a bit of advice on this. This is the 1st big problem Iv had with a shipment since I started importing 16 months ago, and I’m unsure of the best way to proceed.

I recently ordered 60 pieces of a product from China, the value of the the shipment is low, only about £40 value in total. I received the shipment a week ago, but there are 2 big problems. 1) I ordered and paid for 60 pieces, the supplier has only sent me 30 pieces. 2) The shipment was very badly packaged, 26 of the 30 pieces received were badly damaged and are completely unsellable. So out of 60 pieces, Iv only got 4 I can sell.

what’s the best way to deal with this?

Answer:

As quickly as time permits you ought to contact your merchant to exhort that the thing has arrived damaged. You ought to agree to the dealer’s solicitations to supply evidence of harm. An acceptable photo could be sent as an email attachment. The seller may require the thing to be returned to them and, once more, you ought to consent to this, however verify you send the thing by trackable methods.
